Cultures Around the World- Cultural Diversity Education for Tourists

Of the staggering 903 million global tourists in 2007, 64 million left the United States, spending over $104 billion abroad. During the same period, the market for travel books reached $333.5 million, indicating tremendous spending on travel-related materials. Additionally, the United States is rapidly becoming an increasingly diverse society, increasing the importance of cultural diversity education.. Addressing both of these issues, a professor at Utah State University has developed a program to educate individuals about countries and cultural diversity in an informative and exciting way. Cultures Around the World features completely original materials developed from on-site visits by the developer, bringing to life exciting cultures and customs from all over the world. Countries are presented in a unique format by teaching a specific country’s history, culture, food, music, dance, language, religion, and modern issues. Among other opportunities, it represents a valuable add-on for travel agencies, airlines, and other entities in the travel and tourism industry.
